Note on: the world, the work and we
Long dark winter nights are the best times to read, write and draw. Maybe because they let us withdraw inside, and inside ourselves.
I made a nice low drawing table today – experimenting with wetting and stretching paper for water ink drawings – it’s been ages since I did that. It’s nice, to wait and see the paper curl, extend, and set itself. Taking the time to prepare for a drawing works: it’s as if the drawing can become more sensitive.
Drawing: The world, the work and we, an update of The world, the work and you, which I had made for the audio booklet Another lecture, published by H12. This threesome seems to be an obsession of mine: the previous issue of Field Essays, Every Object Contains An Image (2012), ended with the equation The world + the work = the work, by artist Martin Creed.
